Is smiling awkward? Invisalign in Dorking can help!
Sometimes you can say a lot without saying anything. A smile, a sneer; all done by moving your lips and revealing a little or a lot of your teeth. For some, it’s too embarrassing to perform this simple gesture because they are suffering from a condition called Malocclusion. This relates to the way that their teeth align causing difficulties with their bite. If your teeth do not meet, you are unable to exert an equal amount of pressure with your top and lower teeth. This can result in an overbite, an underbite, a crossbite and even an overcrowding of teeth. Fortunately at Old Court House Dental Practice we have a range of treatments including Invisalign in Dorking to help you to enjoy the power of smiling without feeling awkward.
A common condition
Malocclusion is a common condition and dental science has been developing targeted treatments to help correct this condition. Genetics are by far the most common cause but sucking on a dummy or feeding bottle for too long can also cause dental misalignment. For many years a metal brace was the only really effective treatment. Technology has produced equipment that can take thousands of images per second. These images are then converted into 3D images using the latest computer software. This allows your dentist to make a diagnosis of your condition accurately. Malocclusion is divided into three classes, the most common is when your bite is normal with a slight overlap of your bottom teeth by your front teeth. An overbite is when your upper jaw protrudes quite a bit past your lower jaw. An underbite has the opposite effect and is when your lower jaw protrudes.
The health of your teeth
The problem with a malocclusion condition is that the health of your teeth are at risk because your teeth are not correctly aligned. When your teeth are misaligned, it can be difficult to brush and floss properly meaning that bacteria can build up in isolated places. Eventually your teeth will start to decay and your breath can start to smell. By using Invisalign in Dorking we can rescue your teeth from this fate and help you avoid further embarrassment.
Discreet
One of the many advantages of Invisalign in Dorking is the fact that unlike traditional dental braces, these are almost undetectable. They are referred to as trays and are designed to fit over your teeth rather than being attached to the front or back of your teeth. They are also made from a clear dental material which makes them difficult to see. We are also able to show you a virtual image of what your smile will look like once your treatment has been completed.
A quick digital process
Creating your treatment plan is all done digitally based on the results of our assessment of your condition with the aid of X-rays and scans. We will send all your data to the laboratory, digitally, they will then produce a series of trays, each with its own specific shape. You will be required to wear each tray in sequence allowing two to three weeks between each tray. You will need to wear each tray for at least twenty two hours per day but you can remove them to eat and brush your teeth.
Result
Once your treatment has run its course you will receive a final aligner which resembles the trays that you have been wearing. This aligner is designed to hold your teeth in their new position while they settle. You will now have that smile that you have always wanted and you will be able to express yourself without having to say a word using the power of a smile.
